The president has ordered a retaliatory air strike, and only one naval vessel stands between the thermonuclear devastation and alien conquest of Earth. It's a relic of a warship, on its last cruise before being turned into a museum, but its old weapons are still operational, and its captain is determined not to go down without a fight.
